Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama has his own way to control staple food price. That is by having a backup of many commodities. The way has been done for rice and proved successful.

Such way can be applied in other commodities. If the stock is lacking, import can be done such as beef. According to him, the import does not harm the farmer, because there is buyer guarantee, especially in the capital.

Residents Could Monitor Commodity Prices via IPJ

By conducting open and close the import, will cause new problems. This is because of the availability of insufficient food. Basuki also proposed the city administration to be given the import right.

"We are supposed to have the import right. It is not harming the farmer, as long as there is buyer guarantee. So you do not open and close the import thus we can control it," he uttered.

Especially for meat, he already has buyer guarantee, that is Jakarat Smart Card (KJP) holder. As planned, the city administration will give subsidy to them. "I have told that we focus on the KJP holder, approximately more than 561 thousands of KJP holders. We can say 600 thousand, so there will be 600 thousand tons of meat per month," he closed.
